If you click on this thread you must post on it...

I’ve heard it said that the Irish know suffering and storytelling. We’ve learned some of the suffering. Like today we were at the EPIC Irish Emigration Museum and it was so very well done. We spent 3 hours there. If you ever make it to Dublin I highly recommend it.

Then tomorrow we are going to the National Leprechaun Museum for an hour of Irish storytelling!

Ooh! What kind of dogs? Do you have pictures? :) Do tell!

(Sorry to be a third mini-rocket) ;)

I don't have photos right now; guess I should take one. Giant Puppy a 3.5 year old, 95-pound black lab and Great Pyrenees mix (Pyrador? Labraneese?). He looks like a giant, long-legged black lab. Little Puppy is a 5 month old 40-pound mountain cur and Bernese mountain dog mix (Curnese mountain dawg). Bernese color, cur smooth coat.

So, I basically went on a spending spree and got nearly the entire collection of Star Wars tie-in movie novels.

The Phantom Menace by Terry Brooks

Attack of the Clones by R.A. Salvatore

Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover

Solo by Mur Lafferty

Rogue One by Alexander Freed

A New Hope by George Lucas

The Empire Strikes Back by Donald Glut

Return of the Jedi by James Khan

The Force Awakens by Alan Dean Foster

The Rise of Skywalker by Rae Carson

All I need now is The Last Jedi, and I got it all. I also did get Gentleman Bandit by John Boessenecker because I do have a small interest in the American Wild West.

63F today with sunshine. The racoons usually knock the birdbath over, but not today. I'm worried the neigbors may have trapped them.

It's proper winter here, and it looks like we're locked in. There's no melting in the forecast, just more snow and some wonderfully chilly temperatures.

Well, after a couple of free lawyer consults, I've learned that yes, I could probably be compensated a bit more, however the costs would pretty much wipe out any gains (and possibly wind up in the red). Turns out, justice is very expensive. The one who works on contingency said they take 35%, and the other charges $400/hour. Yikes.

So, the only choice was to take the deal. Oh well.

Anyone know this song?

And it's no, nay, never
No, nay never no more
Will I play the wild rover
No never no more

Not sure how it works up there, but lawyers in the US will only take a case that will adequately pay them, thereby also adequately paying the client with the other two thirds. It's a big reason why many businesses will NOT carry liability insurance. Nobody will bother suing them.

Just how drunk did you get last night? That song's only allowed at 3 am when faced with the choice of getting pumped out in A&E or staying quiet under the table, hoping the barman doesn't notice you.

Edit: every Irish folk group that's ever considered existing has covered it, The Dubliners, The Dubliners with the incomparable Luke Kelly, The Pogues, Clancy Brothers, Clancy Brothers with Tommy Makem, and on and on...

That's No Nay Never by the Irish Rovers. Never heard of it, but google is an ally at times like that. ;)

So, like these? :)

===================

Last night, I thought I'd write a song for people who interrupt marriage ceremonies when the celebrant asks if there is anyone here who knows why these people should not, etc... let him speak or forever, etc.

I'd call it "STOP! In the Nave of Love".

(And then common sense told me not to). ;)

Pretty close. The Pyrador only has white toes instead of socks and has broader body and longer legs than the pictured dog. The Curnese Mountain dog is smooth-coated and doesn't have that much white on his face.

Sang along to No, Nay, Never a couple of times in the last week…

Another fun song to sing along to that I’ve learned in the last week:

I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
I kissed my girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town, dirty old town
Dirty old town, dirty old town

Any group that sings Wild Rover will also sing Dirty Old Town. It's about Manchester, if I remember correctly.

Edit: Nope, it's about Salford, written by Ewan MacColl.

I may be the only Ameri-Celtic person who never drank a drop of anything alcoholic in either Ireland or Scotland. Maybe I should remedy that next time I go.
