I'm sure you will love Italy. ❤️ Two years ago, I went on a five-week holiday to Italy, spending some time in Roma, Firenze and Venezia (aka Rome, Florence and Venice ;)) in May and June.

It was a beautiful, sun-soaked-but-not-too-hot time. I was sad when it ended.

Where are you thinking of going in Italy? :)

I've mostly taken trips to places in America (I'm American) and a brief trip to Paris when I was a teenager on a school field trip. We had to wash cars and fundraise for months but it was definitely worth it. My latest trip was two years ago to San Francisco and I hardly got to do half the things I planned, mostly because I went with two other friends that just wanted to drink and shop, which is fine and all but I prefer to see the sights and feel the culture of places when I travel, so it wasn't a good match. I've gone through a bunch of emergencies that were money draining since then, like the electricity and plumbing breaking down in my home, but I finally seem to be clear of all those emergencies and now I'm finally ready to go on another trip. I'm thinking of going to an island and also New Orleans. I don't know in which order I'll do it, maybe whichever one is cheaper lol. Theres so many awe inspiring places to see in America so only after Ive seen them all will I think about traveling out of the country again. I have been to Mexico and to Canada for a friends wedding though. And I might revisit New York because I only went for a weekend to visit my great aunt and I didnt really get to do anything fun.

My great-grandfather was just a month or two short of his 101st birthday when he died. He might've lasted longer, but while out riding when he was 98, his horse stepped in a hole, dumped him, then fell on him. I met him when I was about four or five.
Same with my grandmother. She was almost 90 but she had mental acuity and could get around and was just a lovely person in general. She had a fall in her home when no one was home and her rib punctured her lung, somehow she got to her phone and called someone who then called the paramedics and I got to see her before she passed in the hospital. She could have reached a higher age if not for the accident.

My daughter and I have talked about Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, but after checking the airlines, we about decided we can't get there from here. ;)

I hate feeling ready for bed, yet knowing that if I actually went ot bed at this time of night, I'd be wide awake by the time I turned out the light.

I'm going over to my mom's for baccala today - @Homer Potvin might know of it. It's dried and salted cod - and it requires a few days of preparing, though I have never made it myself, apparently it requires rehydration over a few days. Then you make a nice stew with tomatoes, peppers, potatoes .. one of my favorite things from my childhood.

Today I'm taking my grandson to the ranch store to buy him a new pair of cowboy boots, which is his requested Christmas gift. His birthday is a couple of days before Christmas, so he and I celebrate it in October. I asked him once if he disliked having a holiday birthday. He laughed and said no. He celebrates it with me in October, with his mom and dad in November, then gets a cake on his real birthday as well.

He's a good kid; so rarely asks for anything that it is a surprise when he does. When asked what he'd like for a gift, he usually looks blank. He lives on a ranch and so boots occasonally need to be replaced,
