It's a cold and dreary morning here in Niagara, rain forecast all day, hopefully I'll get some writing done to brighten the day up

Here it is 30 degrees, snow hung around from night before last, and things look kinda crispy. We got through the last freeze all right, but this one may reset spring.

Sending good vibrations to your sister. 🫂 May she have the quickest recovery on record.

Most people don't have a PC anymore and do everything on their phone.

Seriously? (Contemplates writing a novel on a phone. Shudders. Erases the mental picture.) I have two PCs- laptop and desk top- and I use them both.

I need to buy a new phone and keep putting it off. Hate shopping, especially for stuff I resent having to spend money on anyway. I've had my present phone since my grandson was in grade school and he's 16 now. I would like the next one to have a decent camera. I pack light when I travel and don't want to haul my SLR around while sightseeing. Other than that, I'm not interested in bells and whistles.

Today is Independent Bookstore Day. Go buy a book, preferably mine. :) I'm one of the two featured book signers at our local store between 11 and 1. The weather is so awful that I can't image people wanting to truck around downtown. I'm considering taking my laptop so I can work. After being completely thrown off schedule by grandchildren, travel, and migraine brain fog, I finally feel like I'm back on track. The time wasn't completely wasted since I spent a lot of time thinking, came up with a better ending, and ironed out a few wrinkles along the way. Of course, I never manage to iron anything without leaving a significant crease or two, so there is still head work to be done.

The phrase "download our app onto your phone," irritates me. Being instructed by an AI voice during a business call to "visit our website" for service is worse. If the damn website was accessible, I wouldn't be calling. ATT charged me an extra $5 for assistence by an automated system when I had to renew my account with a new credit card # after my former credit card was flagged for fraudulent charges.

Who thought I'd ever fondly look back on the days of answering machines?

I hear that. When I couldn't log onto my account at one website, I found that I couldn't get the information I needed to log on until I logged on. Sheesh.

That's right up there with when I closed my Wells Fargo account to switch the money to a credit union. I got a certified check for the amount, less something like $20. I asked why that charge was made, and they said that it's a charge that's levied every time the account goes below a certain amount. I asked how the heck I could close the account without triggering that fee, and they referred me to the bank manager, who forgave the $20 fee. That was the last time I dealt with Wells Fargo.

Curious story: a friend of mine who was visiting England needed to cash a check on her Wells Fargo account with a bank there. The bank refused it on the grounds that "Wells Fargo" was obviously a phony name concocted by people who wrote scripts for "western" movies when they needed to have a stagecoach robbed.

I never came home from Florida without a couple of bottles of booze. Less than half the price

All my relatives who were smokers in Syracuse used to go a few miles south and get their smokes at the Onondaga Indian reservation. No tax.

:ROFLMAO:

When in his early twenties, Tolstoy made this entry into his diary, on January 25, 1851 -

I’ve fallen in love or imagine that I have; went to a party and lost my head. Bought a horse which I don’t need at all.

Now, Wells Fargo are the robbers.
