Someone graded our road.

Got home from Toronto in record time - just about an hour.
That's really good, especially if you were driving to Vancouver.
My niece was determined not to be without her car as she started a new contract in Seattle, so drove it across the entire continent. It took her five days, and she said it was one of the best experiences of her life.
Good for your niece! If I had a dollar for every mile I'd driven a car cross-country (both this one and Canada), I could buy a new car, and a fancy one at that.

You obviously don't live in the Mountain West where I drive 270+ miles to the nearest fabric store.
I just put a few thousand km on my car driving to the east coast and back. But I really enjoy road trips. It helps to have such great company on the road, and seeing all the stops along the way.
My company is usually an audiobook, but on the last few cross-country trips, I've found simple quiet to be the best company. Of course, my last few trips have been across some of the most beautiful open country in North America, so perhaps in my old age, I can only concentrate on one sense at a time.
My brother and I split the driving, and I am not sure if I prefer to be the driver or a passenger.

My fifteen-year-old grandson was on my last trip. I turned over the wheel to him so he could get in driving practice. Bless his heart, he did great until we got into the mountains and fairly heavy truck traffic. He didn't call for rescue but cowboyed up and kept driving, looking increasingly grim as the road got twistier and the truck traffic increased. I finally had mercy and asked if he'd like to change drivers. He agreed and we pulled off onto a ranch road exit to switch positions. He acquitted himself well and I was proud of him. Of course, being a ranch kid, he started driving trucks before he was big enough to reach the accelerator or brakes. When bucking haybales onto trailers, my son put the truck into granny gear and let my then-six-year-old grandson stand on the seat and guide the truck across the field.

And what's the best audiobook you've listened to recently? I listened to my very first audiobook this year! I can't believe I waited this long. Circe by Madeline Miller has been my audiobook highlight so far.
How old do you have to be to start having afternoon naps?
Age 5 and below or approaching middle age and above? But in certain countries a siesta is built in for everyone (I wish this was universal!). And plenty of us sleep in during the weekend to make up for lack of sleep during the week.
Just best not to indulge while at work.
Granny gear on a truck is the lowest gear, the "barely inching along the road" gear that allows trucks to take of with heavy trailers without putting a strain on the engine. It also allows a truck to chug along at walking speed so that six-year-olds can drive while the adults load hay. If you want a more complex explanation about gear ratios, Google is a better source of information than I am.
Best audiobook? I just finished listening to The Song of the Blue Bottle Tree, which is my own book. All three readers did a fine job.
I won at Scrabble again. I beat my brother 406 to 273.
