It's time to start thinking about how we are going to draw the battle lines.
The battle is still sometime away, but it certainly won't hurt to think about it now. The battle will likely be during the last few posts of the story. We're still about 11-13k words short of that, I'd say. Which is very much on track with finishing on end of February like we're planning.
If we look back at the basic road map:
- At some point, Olive is revived. <---- We are here
- While Olive recovers, Melina collects the rest of the fragments
- Olive eventually recovers with a newfound power and rises back to her feet as a different person, ready to face Melina
- When Olive is ready, she meets back up with Katara and Ravenna (and whoever else is with them)
- Eventually, the final battle happens and Olive faces Melina, who has obtained the power of the gear
- They discover the truth behind the architect and the scriptures (I think we should make up something good about them too)
- Denouncement ensues
While Olive is recovering and Melina is collecting the fragments, big things should happen in the dark, freezing world that unites our characters. Wren and his group are still kind of detached from what's happening. Ravenna requires a bit more development and so does Barnabas and his newfound family as a whole.
The time Olive is recovering should be used to tie these ends so the battle can proceed. That time can also be used to strengthen and further develop these characters so they are ready for battle.
I would really like it if the bettered Sophia meets a bettered Ravenna and Katara. The trio is back together stronger than ever and ready to go for the big fight.
I'm not sure what exactly will happen during that period (I more or less know about Sophia though) but we can discover it like we agreed.
There should be a good build up for the battle. We don't want it to happen too suddenly. That'd make it anti-climactic.
We will have all characters involved in the final battle?
I think it will be cool to have everyone involved in the battle. They can't all battle though. Katara, for example, can't face the Queen. Everyone should have a good role. Barnabas, for example, can use his insight of the fragments to help everyone come up with a plan on how Melina can be defeated.
The big question here is whether the Queen will be fighting alone. Would there be anyone else? I feel like Kurai can find some way to fight as well.
I guess Hemios can help the queen if you haven't decided to change his ways until then.
We will literally have one group on one side and the other group on the other side and they will physically clash?
Probably. But like we talked about, at some point, the battle should literally transcend time and space to become as otherworldly as possible.
One way this can happen is if the good group has some gear fragments, and the queen's group has some gear fragments as well. The battle happens, they all clash, and the queen manages to get all the fragments, assemble the gear, drive it, and then the crazy and phenomenal phase of the battle happens. At the end of which, she discovers the twist with the architect.
This means that our group must find and take hold of some of the fragments at some point.
