It Began in a Tavern (OOC Thread) (Part 2)

In one entry, Yuuna tells Pria to "go to the city."

is this where we all headed? There doesn't seem to be a city between Cliffcross and the Ruins on the map.

Can we invent one, so we can get them all in one place?

Okay, great, thanks. So we're all heading for Cliffcross?
If you want to have everyone meet at one location, the ruins would be a better place since most people are there. But it can be whichever you want. Surprise us! I do think that it's time for everyone to gather in one spot... except Sophia. She will be isolated for a little bit. People thinking she is dead is pretty important to my plans.

I think the only ones missing from the ruins are @IgnitedxSoul's characters and Ravenna as well as Katara. I did consider taking them to the ruins on my last post but didn't because Barnabas was there. I didn't want to interefere in the Katara meets Barnabas moment.

New post made! It came together pretty well, and I can't wait to see where you all take it.

I wanted to confirm what our expected word limit is currently. I want to see if I can actually write a larger chunk this time instead of my normal 600 to 700 words.

The word limit is 1,500 words. It's more of a guideline though. If you write 2k, I won't mind it. It's there to keep players (mainly me tbh, lol) from writing 5k words every turn.

I do have a hard time with low word count stories. It's why I don't write flash fiction. That stuff is impossible. I have managed it a couple of times but I haven't been able to write a single flash piece in something like two years.

I did some work on the lore and character threads.

It's kind of difficult to do updates because I don't own those threads, so I need some help from you @Louanne Learning

First, can you delete this character post? It Began in a Tavern - Character Index I made a new one.

I made some new posts in the lore thread, so I need those linked to the index of the first post so people can easily access them.

The initial post of the character index also needs linking to the various posts for easy access. There is a list but it doesn't have links to every post.

It is a bit of work. I would like to make some more edits to lore posts as well but it'd create quite a bit of work, so I won't for now.

It might be a good idea for the threads to be deleted and re-posted under my name so I can edit freely.

I don't think this is necessary. I am happy to make changes as required :)

@ps102 @IgnitedxSoul

It's time to start thinking about how we are going to draw the battle lines.

We will have all characters involved in the final battle?

We will literally have one group on one side and the other group on the other side and they will physically clash?

Okay, no problem then. Can you also center the list on the index so it looks a bit prettier?

We should also add attributions by player... so it should look like this:

I added some placeholder lines. Those characters don't have sheets yet. They can be added later whenever the respective owners of those characters decide to write them. I hope I am not forgetting any character. If so, please tell me.

It's time to start thinking about how we are going to draw the battle lines.
The battle is still sometime away, but it certainly won't hurt to think about it now. The battle will likely be during the last few posts of the story. We're still about 11-13k words short of that, I'd say. Which is very much on track with finishing on end of February like we're planning.

If we look back at the basic road map:
  • At some point, Olive is revived. <---- We are here
  • While Olive recovers, Melina collects the rest of the fragments
  • Olive eventually recovers with a newfound power and rises back to her feet as a different person, ready to face Melina
  • When Olive is ready, she meets back up with Katara and Ravenna (and whoever else is with them)
  • Eventually, the final battle happens and Olive faces Melina, who has obtained the power of the gear
  • They discover the truth behind the architect and the scriptures (I think we should make up something good about them too)
  • Denouncement ensues
While Olive is recovering and Melina is collecting the fragments, big things should happen in the dark, freezing world that unites our characters. Wren and his group are still kind of detached from what's happening. Ravenna requires a bit more development and so does Barnabas and his newfound family as a whole.

The time Olive is recovering should be used to tie these ends so the battle can proceed. That time can also be used to strengthen and further develop these characters so they are ready for battle.

I would really like it if the bettered Sophia meets a bettered Ravenna and Katara. The trio is back together stronger than ever and ready to go for the big fight.

I'm not sure what exactly will happen during that period (I more or less know about Sophia though) but we can discover it like we agreed.

There should be a good build up for the battle. We don't want it to happen too suddenly. That'd make it anti-climactic.

We will have all characters involved in the final battle?
I think it will be cool to have everyone involved in the battle. They can't all battle though. Katara, for example, can't face the Queen. Everyone should have a good role. Barnabas, for example, can use his insight of the fragments to help everyone come up with a plan on how Melina can be defeated.

The big question here is whether the Queen will be fighting alone. Would there be anyone else? I feel like Kurai can find some way to fight as well.

I guess Hemios can help the queen if you haven't decided to change his ways until then.

We will literally have one group on one side and the other group on the other side and they will physically clash?
Probably. But like we talked about, at some point, the battle should literally transcend time and space to become as otherworldly as possible.

One way this can happen is if the good group has some gear fragments, and the queen's group has some gear fragments as well. The battle happens, they all clash, and the queen manages to get all the fragments, assemble the gear, drive it, and then the crazy and phenomenal phase of the battle happens. At the end of which, she discovers the twist with the architect.

This means that our group must find and take hold of some of the fragments at some point.

I'll get to work doing up the character profiles for my other characters

Profiles posted for the other 4 characters in my list, and links made -

Melina is collecting the fragments, big things should happen in the dark, freezing world

maybe it is during this time that Melina gathers together her army - demons from the underworld that could not come out into the light but thrive in the dark

bettered Ravenna and Katara.

then they need to be faced with some tremendous obstacle that they overcome - which gives them some new kind of power - not necessarily a physical power, but maybe a new insight - or even the confidence to take charge

I think it will be cool to have everyone involved in the battle.

me too! Then each side should have an army. the Ghosts of Kodama Abbey can be the army of the side of the good.

Melina can gather her army from the underworld - as I mentioned above

The big question here is whether the Queen will be fighting alone.

I think it's best to have army against army

I guess Hemios can help the queen if you haven't decided to change his ways until then.

I'm thinking the group who were at Kodama Abbey will all come in on the side of good

should literally transcend time and space to become as otherworldly as possible.

I love this!!

Noted. Excellent!
