The Jade Empire - OOC Thread

@ellekaldwin - how is the entry coming along?
I'm sorry I totally forgot. With work and the holidays here in the US, I wasn't even thinking about it. If it's not too much trouble, please skip my turn. I promise I'll have something fresh and ready next time!

Edit: I change my mind. I'm gonna bang this out real quick. It might be shorter, but I'm gonna look at my notes and get something done. Sorry for the confusion!!

Take your time, we are happy to wait for you to get it done

Phew...entry's up! I don't know if it's any good haha. But I wanted to get something out before the start of the new year. I'm commited to finishing personal projects (maybe I'll talk about or share some of those in other threads, I'm not sure) so I'm trying not to overwhelm myself. Trying and failing.

Anyway! Sorry that Jian got real at the end with Bertrand. I can't imagine she trusts any foreign man, so letting them know what's up is her idea of 'welcoming' them to the group. I'm excited to see where this goes! Will there finally be a confrontation with Locke? Tune in next time!

Hi, quick check-in.

I'm planning to have Bertrand punch Locke in the face. Does anyone want their characters to strike blows?

Hello. My time off university allowed me to read what you have so far out of pure curiosity. Just wanted to say that you all have been doing great work. I really enjoyed the read!

I'll continue to read along. Hope you finish it! I love the mystery.

Okay, my post is finally up!

wow, wow, wow! That was so exciting and fast-paced. Filled with action. What a tremendous piece of writing!!

I imagine that somehow, Locke has to escape?

So sorry for the long wait!

That's okay, Christmas holidays interrupted all of us.

I guess I am up next!!

Lol, I have read through the last few entries - and I really have to put on the thinking cap to figure out where to go next in the story!

All very exciting!

@ellekaldwin

I think Master Gyatso would make an intriguing recurring character and I would like to bring him back into the story.

I hope you will be able to do a character profile for him (using the template) - if you can, please send it to me by PM

Here's what you have written so far about him:

Old travelers spoke of Master Gyatso, a monk who lived high in the snow-peaks, said to have touched the bones of the world itself. A keeper of secrets older than dynasties, a listener to machines that breathed like gods.

old as stone, his eyes sharp as a hawk’s. His voice was patient, but each word carried weight

(Jiàn) studied with Gyatso; learning to still her thoughts until even the hiss of snow on stone became a teaching, to touch a machine not only with hands but with spirit, to hear the difference between silence and absence.

I'd like to bring The Great Emperor Yu in as a recurring character, but I am sorry I can't find where he was first introduced.

I have a skeleton of a character profile made up for him, and hope whoever created the character can let me know if there is anything I should add - (or suggestions from any of you)

Name: The Great Emperor Yu

Male or female: Male

Age: Thousands of years old

Chinese, British, American or French? Chinese

Physical appearance:

Yu appears as an old man, but his exact age is unknown, since he has lived since the dawn of recorded time. His eyes are dark and penetrating. Portly, with a neatly trimmed beard and a long, thin moustache, he wears voluminous robes fashioned of gold silk, elaborately embroidered, and a flat-topped crown with hanging strings of jade beads.

Backstory:

The first emperor, Yu is the creator and builder of the Shen-Ji—the God Machine. He now resides above the clouds, in Chíjiŭ Temple, which translates to “the Enduring Temple” – but does sometimes make appearances on Earth.

Personality:

Thousands of years of experience has embedded restraint in him. His expression remains calm and unreadable. He possesses all the wisdom of all the books ever written, and is motivated by goodness and justice.

I would like to bring in Master Gyatso in as a recurring character, too.

@ellekaldwin - I believe you created him. Would you like to make up his character profile, or would you like me to?
