Posted! I hope it gives better insight into Shaohua's mindset. And that it isn't as rushed as I feel like it might be??

Daiyu nibbled her pan-fried, pork-filled dumplings. She and Shaohua sat on wooden crates, with a taller one in between them, tucked into the corner of the small food shop. The makeshift table held a steam-powered lamp shaped like a spider on brass legs, dimly shining with amber light.

The air was as heavy as her heart. “I must make my parents see reason,” she said.

“Love does not always follow reason,” Shaohua replied.

“You think they act from love?”

“I do.”

“Well,” she harrumphed a snort of mirthless laughter, “—they drive me mad, with their love.”

I am very pleased to announce that @Luxuria has agreed to join our story - as the antagonist!

So we need to toss around some ideas to help guide her in this character(s) creation.

Luxuria - after reading the story - do any ideas come to your mind?

A diabolical Westerner based in the Jixi wilderness maybe?

Considering Locke seems to be an antagonist (?), I think it'd be interesting to have a few other antagonists that're his associates or former students or something along those lines. If @ellekaldwin is okay with that, of course.

I do like the idea of them running to a crazy foreigner, too.

I do plan on Locke being the main bad guy for Tala and Jian, but I'm open to other antagonists, of course. If y'all wanna incorporate him into your stories as well, that's totally fine with me!

You've so far crafted such an intriguing plot line, I think we should consider it as the main spine of the story?

As you reveal more about the relationship between these three, we can take our tangents from there.

I suggest everyone re-read your latest post of June 12 because it contains a lot of hints

I'm totally fine with expanding on Tobias Locke and his past and adding former students or whatnot.
