The Notable Death Thread

Mikayla Raines, founder of Save A Fox Rescue, a wonderful young lady that took in rescue animals. I never knew her personally, never talked to her, but the news of her death hit me almost as though I did. I'd followed her for a few years, mainly to see what the foxes were up to. I donated once or twice over the years. She apparently ended herself following some cyberbullying. I don't know the full story, and I don't aim to pass any moral judgment on anyone, but can we not for fuck's sake try to treat each other decently? This type of shit seems so easily avoidable, and maybe it isn't and I'm just naive, but Christ. Just be good to each other out there, it really isn't that much to ask.

Noted American televangelist Jimmy Swaggart is currently finding out whether his assumptions about the afterlife and his place in it were correct or not.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Requiescat in pace! Best not to get into a religious discussion. We'll all find out when we go.

(And we will all go together when we go...) </Tom Lehrer>

I was just listening to Tom Lehrer about 3 minutes ago. Baader Meinhoff phenomenon to the max.

This was a bad accident. Diogo's brother was killed too. News article pictures of the accident scene are horrific.

David Gergen is dead. If you watched any political history documentaries in the 90s the name will be familiar. He was an advisor to presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Clinton. Basically the proverbial fly on the Oval Office wall.

Lewy body dementia, the same thing that got Robin Williams. Rest in peace.

Martin Cruz Smith, author of Gorky Park and the rest of the Arkady Renko detective novels. He's one of my favorites and very early influences. I can't recommend him enough.

They're both risky sports, but it's kinda like how the real Red Baron got shot down by AAA, not another fighter. Just seems wrong to go out that way.

I didn't know that. How advanced was it in WW1? I imagine they had develop it on the fly as airplane tactics developed.
