The Notable Death Thread

They're both risky sports, but it's kinda like how the real Red Baron got shot down by AAA, not another fighter. Just seems wrong to go out that way.

The Red Baron was shot down by the American Automobile Association? *googles* Oh, wait. ;)

AFAIK, anti-aircraft artillery was in its infancy during WW1, but Richtofen was shot down in April 1918, towards the end of the war. The anti-aircraft artillery generally credited with shooting down the Red Baron consisted of machine guns and possibly some light artillery, primarily used for ground-based defense. The technology was relatively primitive and not designed for anti-aircraft, so a ground-based machine gunner probably got lucky.

RIP to the careers of the 2 executives caught getting up close and personal at a Coldplay concert.

The fallout from their liaison secre’te must be astronomical.

I feel bad for Mr. Byron's wife and family, and for Mrs. Cabot's husband and family.

I see Mr. Byron's wife has already divorced him, but I could care less. He made his bed, and now he must lie in it. (With Mrs. Cabot, I suppose ... or should that be Miss Cabot?)

Whether either of them keep their jobs in the long term is up to their employer, but I don't think they will.

Ah shit. I saw him in 1992 (No More Tours tour) and... 1994? The Retirement Sucks tour. Amazing showman and despite everything seemed like a decent guy. Sleep well, dark prince.

At my younger sister's home recently all us women danced in the grass. The first song my older, 70-year-old sister requested was Paranoid. She's always loved that song.

Ramblin Jack Elliott had a wonderful performance piece called "912 Green Street." No singing, just reminiscing to a soft accompaniment on his guitar. One of the images was of a woman dancing naked under a banana tree in a soft rain. Definitely worth a listen, because he is a master storyteller:
