The Notable Death Thread

Maybe I'll give Hyperion another try. So far I've never been able to get past the first chapter.
I loved Hyperion; just read it for the first time maybe 2 years ago or so. My only issue with it was that the chapters are soooo loooong. Like a couple of them are literally 100+ pages, so sometimes you just gotta put the bookmark in without there being a natural break in the narrative.

Country Joe McDonald, (January 1, 1942 – March 7, 2026) - of the 1960s band "Country Joe and the Fish" - most famous for his Vietnam war protest song, "I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag" - played in the video at Woodstock '69

Given the day that's in it, we lost a good one yesterday. I'll confess I very much needed the subtitles in this video.

RIP Dolores Keane.

Len Deighton - British author of spy novels (famously the Ipcress File which was made into a classic film with Michael Caine), but also an illustrator who, amongst many others, created the cover for the first UK edition of Jack Kerouac's On The Road, passed away at the tender age of 97!

Chuck Norris didn't die. All the rest of us are ghosts and he will live forever forever. In his honor:

Outer space exists because it’s afraid to be on the same planet with Chuck Norris.

We live in an expanding universe. All of it is trying to get away from Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris makes onions cry.

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris doesn’t read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

RIP
