I've never had a 'darling' that 6-months-in-the-future Stuart didn't hate. Could even rewrite the guideline as 'revise once more, half a year later, before publishing anything.'

And yeah, not literally, only literarily.

It's not much, but after a two-week sales drought, I sold two copies of Sex Robot today to complete strangers. And one of 'em is a paperback !

Going to begin using my semi-new (bought it at the Habitat for Humanity Restore) dual chamber composter today. The previous owners of our house had set up a composting bin at the back corner of the yard, and I've been using it for years but time and heat have worn down the hard plastic and it's cracking. It worked great, though a bit tedious to turn the pile and dig out the compost from a door at the bottom. This promises to be an easier and simpler process. I was a bit surprised to find out how much I like composting both practically (better than buying it) and spiritually (feels good to make use of what would otherwise be sent to a landfill); and it's a good feeling to hold that rich dark soil in one's hand knowing where and what it was a few weeks back.

Yes, the drum function on my keyboard can be looped into my guitar rig so I can record guitar, bass, piano, and drums now.

After 24 hours away from the 'latest' chapter I wrote, my brain suddenly came up with a logical solution to a problem contained in one of those 'Darlings' I thought I might have to kill.

All I had to do was give one of the supporting characters a few lines in the previous chapter, make my MC paranoid, and hey presto - the 'Darling' now makes sense. Huzzah!

The Artemis II liftoff was awesome to watch live. It took me back to the shuttle launches, though the implications of this mission are quite a bit grander. We’re about to have human eyes on the dark side of the Moon for the first time!

Well... what you call brisket, I think is a bit different to what we call brisket. But the cut I wanted was the layered fatty underside cut, which I think is navel or plate/flank in the US, and flank in the UK (dark blur below, which I can't actually read).

Actually, I'm spending most of my spare time on my other hobby. A project that's been a dream of mine for...nearly 40 years now? came within my reach last year, and I set a deadline of Christmas.

Running a bit behind but it's coming out really well, so I'm pretty happy.

Not to say it's better than writing, but it exercises a different part of my brain.

I'm glad it's not just me! I am a half-reasonable cook, but pork always goes wrong. Never quite understood why!
