I've started a new roleplay entry for the Jade Empire and it is going good. I pretty well have it figured out what I want to include in this entry and it most likely will be done today.

I tried to get a shelter dog, and they basically told me I was too old. I guess they figured I had weeks to live and the poor dog would be all alone. I hope they're wrong.
Good grief. How infuriating, insulting, and short sighted. If you appear to be tottering toward death's door, how much imagination does it take to suggest a senior dog to accompany you? Friends of mine in their mid-eighties just adopted a rescue dog. So far, they've managed to outlive all their senior dogs, and this time adopted one that is a couple of years old. I hope it can keep up with them.

Our son is coming home next week for a week when I'll watch these threes mutts that I've fed and watered and cleaned up after and exercised and snuggled completely ditch me for their favourite human, even if they've not seen him for nearly a year.

My first thought was that I had to wait until I got back from my Ireland trip in the fall to seriously consider this. But I had lunch with my cousin today and she told me about a place where she takes her German Shepherd three times a week and he spends the day in the company of professional dog people and dozens of other dogs, with all kinds of activities, and he absolutely loves it. They do overnight kenneling as required.

This is the place:

At 72, my husband declared himself too old for any more puppies after an older dog died. Giant Puppy arrived when husband was 73. New Puppy arrived three weeks ago when husband was 76.

Famous last words...
He’s gonna have an armada of puppies when he hits 85.

The shelter I’m trying to get to is a no-kill shelter for cats and dogs. Now, here’s an idea if you’re old and someone’s gonna say you’re too old to adopt a dog: say it’s for one of your kids or grandkids. They don’t gotta know the truth. 😉

I just completed an application to adopt a rescue dog from Korea. I'll be disappointed if my application is rejected.

Here's the dog I applied to adopt:

It does say that, had I looked. I find male is my default for dogs and female for cats. Maybe I shouldn't say that out loud...
Olang is lovely, all the same.

Oh gosh, Olang is adorable. ❤️ Best of luck, Louanne.

I live alone, so I'd love to adopt an animal (cat or dog) to come home to. But I live in a flat and would be in the office all day, so the cat or dog would be restless all day, and cause damage. :(

The last cat I had was adorable, but she was so bored she chewed on the plastic doorstop and broke a tooth. I couldn't afford the vet bill, so I had to put her up for adoption. 😢 Poor thing.

Maybe when I retire I can adopt a cat. Or a dog. We'll see.
