In my reading today, I learned about sacred cow goddesses from ancient Ireland –

… the divine ancestral mother, Bui, who was married to the god, Lugh, and from whom their name Corcu Luigde is derived. Bui comes from Bó, who is the primal goddess of ancient Ireland. Going after sacred cows is a writerly tradition. Is the sacred cow to which you refer modern psychiatry or the perils of the same?

I don't know where you live, and I'm not going to bring up politics, but this statement is ingenuous.

Writers group in about an hour and a quarter. I've not read anything the last couple of meetings so should decide on something to share. I did get the prologue written, though it will no doubt morph considerably over the next year. I've waffled over how to begin Book III, tried several different ideas and returned to the original. It sets the scene, hints at a reveal that will explain many things, and is an interesting scenario in itself. Guess I'll read it today and see what kind of feedback I get. Ha. First challenge of the morning successfully met.

No, wait. The first challenge was deciding what Garbage Gut the Puppy ate yesterday and threw up at 6 a.m. Have not successfully met that challenge. The item consisted of semi-transparent plastic with a smooth rim at at least one edge. We can't find anything in the house or yard. The other possibility in inside my car, since he and his brother spent about an hour lounging in the same while we went into (cover your eyes, Homer) Olive Garden for dinner. Not my favorite restaurant, but my husband loves it.

Marilyn. So many questions for her, like is Debbie Harry her daughter? How did she get so mixed up by the people who were helping her career? Why are all her documents surrounding her life still not available for public knowledge?

Sometimes I wonder if sacred cows have to be dressed in some specific garb before they're slaughtered, but that's just a fleeting thought. And yes, psychiatry has, for some reason, became one such sacred cow.

Granted, it is a writerly tradition, though the mental grunt work must be done all the same.

I've never been in a Costco. There is a Sam's in town, though. I think they're kinda the same?

Both are membership clubs, where you pay a fee to be a customer. But Sam's Club is (or at least was) a subsidiary of the Walmart corporation, whereas Costco is a separate business, with its own corporation, largely owned by institutional investors.
