Don't know how often you usually get shovelable snow, but in most cases a snowblower is cheaper than a heart attack.
Heh. It croaked 3 years ago but we stopped getting snow so I didn't bother replacing it. It could only do maybe 6 inches without stalling. Wouldn't have made it 6 inches out of my garage with this one. One of the neighbors has the giant, riding mower sized ones with the three foot intake. I don't think he made it 6 feet down the sidewalk before it failed. Shit was chest high in spots. 38 inches in less than 24 hours.

Still watching some Olympics replays of events I'd missed. Fun times.

The NHL regular season returns tomorrow. Looks like some all-star American players might miss their first game back because they're partying at the White House. The sports writers shall be busy.

Crossed the border this morning, easy peasy. Drove my niece to the Buffalo airport for her flight back to Boston

There is indeed a flood of mediocrity on the market, but one needn't plunge into the schlock to locate something worth reading. Good writing is located well above the deluge, not in it. Sometimes finding good books is a matter of luck while browsing the library or indie bookstore shelves. Other times it is the result of reading reviews or listening to recommendations from people whose opinons one respects and whose tastes in literature are similar.

Right now, I'm looking at the pile of good books on my chairside table, thinking the problem isn't finding excellent storytelling, it's finding the time to read it. ;)
That.
Don't die, Homer. We need you. Don't grow up too much, either. Quelle bore.

Advice from Leo Marks, master code-breaker in World War II, to the young women he was training as cryptographers:
"Don't grow old too quickly, and don't stay young too long."

My cousin Bert Coleman, who lived in a rural area outside Syracuse, New York, had an old rusted-out jeep to which he affixed a snowplow blade. He was very popular in his neighborhood, and used to drive it into town to clear the driveways of his mother-in-law and other relatives.

We got about five minutes of intense hail about half an hour ago. The dogs headed for the doghouse and I decided against venturing out into the world until tomorrow.

Any excuse to avoid social interaction for another few hours...

Yeah, they get murdered upstate there. NH and Maine, too, regular folk will strap on the snowplow for domestic use. Here in RI we might see 8 feet or 8 inches in a season. No rhyme or reason anymore.

Yep, she got home okay. texted me as soon as she got into her apartment

Boston is great, but everyone drives down to Providence for the food. No comparison. Particularly the Italian. The North End is overrated.
