Movies, Movies, Movies!

Finished watching "For a Few Dollars More". An excellent film, I think more people should watch it. Indio and Lee Van Cleee steal the show.

Just bought the CD: Mr Bates vs The Post Office.

The issue was that 100’s of sub-postmasters were convicted for financial irregularities. Some were given fines and others given suspended / custodial sentences. The sub-postmasters all claimed their innocence as it was eventually proven that the Horizon computer system which the Post Office installed was the root cause of all the issues. The issues began in the early 2000’s. The court cases and legal wrangling are still ongoing to this day. The High / Supreme Court has ruled that it was the biggest miscarriage of justice in British legal history.

Rewatched Stargate (1994) last night for probably the 20th time, but for the first time in many years. It still kicks ass. I love revisiting these old sci-fi spectacles on my giant, modern TV. I used to watch this one on like a 22" tube TV and a VHS tape.

My dad had a tiny tube television in his office growing up and I watched a lot of sci-fi shows with him on that. It's really a different experience. I love my grainy films but sometimes it's cool to watch remastered stuff.

DVD's are basically worthless now so i picked up a copy of The Princess Bride and Kung Fu Hustle for 1 dollarydoo each at a 2nd hand store while waiting for the wife to get her hair done (2.5 hrs) the other day.

How's Kung Fu Hustle? I've never seen it.

Seen The Good, the bad, and the Ugly, yet? That's a top 10 all time.

I watched it years ago and really enjoyed it. I'm trying to buckle down and write more this week, as I have a magazine I want to submit to, but aside from that I plan on watching it soon at some point.

Sofa-bound today so am just settling in to watch 12 monkeys. I know I had, possibly have, it on video somewhere and have watched it but do not remember a thing. Here we go... The future is 1997! 😱

I love 12 Monkeys. It's ahead of its time imo. Fascinating future world, great performances, excellent direction and writing. It was fun to see some of the aesthetics from Brazil, which I watched a long time after I first saw this film.

Thanks for the reminder to keep an eye out for this one to go on sale on 4K. It's one of those movies I'm definitely going to watch a few more times.

Just watched Rear Window for the first time, one of the few Hitchcock movies I hadn't seen before. It was good but nothing special. Doesn't crack his top ten, but whatever.

One of my all-time favorite movies.

Came in here to say I just watched The Menu and I loved it. I'm not a big fan of Anya Taylor Joy (I know, shun the non-believer), but I thoroughly enjoyed this film for all aspects of it.
That's one of the few (maybe only) restaurant movies I like. I've totally been there. Burn all of you culinary posers alive!

I vaguely remember watching this with my father as a kid. I haven't watched a lot of Hitchcock, but I want to watch more. Any suggestions? What are his top ten for you Homer?

In no particular order, Psycho, Birds, Man who knew too much, Dial M for murder, Rope, Lifeboat, Strangers on a train, Marine, Vertigo, North by northwest... there's a lot of em.

Rear window was still good, but it was the famous one I hadnt seen so I was disappointed. Rope is excellent but probably not for everyone. Jimmy Stewart and two other dudes in an apartment with no other scenes or actors.

I thought Rope was really good, it was my first Hitchcock. Only other one I've seen is Strangers on a Train, also fantastic. I really should check out some of the others.

They're not dated at all, for the most part. Particularly Psycho. It could have been made two weeks ago and you'd never know it, aside from the props.
