What made me happy today?

The D6# optional note is becoming more normal! I used to crack on it and now, I can almost hit it consistently enough to actually sing the notes after it. Not to mention I can now sing the D6s relaxed instead of reaching for the note!!

I've never heard this song before, but it was fun to follow along and see how well I could do it. It helps that it works up to the high notes.

We still get paper bills and pay them with a paper check by snail mail.
The only bill I pay with a check anymore is the quarterly trash hauling and recycling service. It does me good to walk into town and drop it into the dedicated box at the municipal building.

I still get paper statements for most things. If I don't lay eyeballs on the amount due and the due date, I might forget and incur late fees.

It is a very fun song. How did following along go?
Pretty well, but the sound on my laptop is inadequate at best. So, on the run-ups I was drowning the singer out (harder to sing high notes softly). Very possible I wasn't matching her anymore.

My voice teacher used to run me up to D6 in lessons, but that was a while ago.

I totally understand. I worry about drowning out the singer as well when I'm singing along. I did find a piano track, though. It's useful. Anyway, I've been working on softer higher notes as well. I think what I am finding is, being as relaxed as possible.

Oh, fun. :) I haven't done in-person singing sessions in ages. But my teacher's recordings for warm-ups go to A5 for standard and her high note extension practice goes to F6.

1980. We had music classes in first year of secondary school, dropped thereafter because, clearly, it wasn't all that important. For the entirety of the school year, I got to sing two notes. Day one. the teacher went through the entire class. each boy in turn, to assess potential. She sang a note and each of us had to replicate it. She got to me, sang the note. I replicated it. She paused. She said, "could you do that again?" I did it again. That was the last note I sang in that class. The best I can say is she kept a straight face. That, and I was 12 and my voice was breaking.
