What made me happy today?

I'm chuckling as I type the agenda for the upcoming round of mandatory meetings I have to organize for next week. I ran out of shit to say years ago, but they need to get done.
I practice meeting triage

Will my presence add anything?
If not will my absence cause me extra work later?
If not will there be free food/ cake / decent coffee (when i was single 'Pretty girls' also made it onto this list)

If the answer to all those is no 'unfortunately due to the pressures of my extremely high workload I'm not able to attend'

Given that I work in local government I'd die of starvation if I accepted every meeting I'm invited to

Out of all the various duties and responsibilities associated with my teaching career, staff meetings were the worst.
Now I feel like I have to defend the necessity of staff meetings. It's not the content of the meeting so much as the need to reinforce the organizational structure, which probably isn't as important in other industries, but for us, with a bunch of petty tyrants left largely unsupervised in their own stores and prone to craaaaazy shit, it's kind of a ground wire thing, if that makes any sense.

Some staff meetings are essential.... but we have far too many. If you ran a business like local government runs itself you'd be bankrupt in a week

Hmm. In the case of meetings that I have to attend, the answers are no, yes, and yes. (There are also pretty girls in the meetings I have to attend, but they're all married with kids). :[

Yeah, I guess they are necessary, a once-in-a-while get-together, but I think one of our most common refrains was, "This could have been covered in an email."

This will prove very relevant:

I've had a great two days. I spent all of yesterday cleaning the inside of the car I've been working on using a water vacuum. The amount of dirt, mould and gunk I got out was amazing. There was also lots of sand because well, trips to the beach. You can't live in Crete and not have lots of those in the summer.

Today, I spent its entirety cleaning some heavily rusted parts of the body. There were two areas specifically that had too much rust. Way too much. One was underneath the engine bay and the other was behind the bumper, which was a royal pain in the neck to remove.

I used a grinder with a steel wool attachment at maximum speed and it ate through the rust like it was nothing. I removed everything that I could and then sprayed it with primer. The lower body frame behind the bumper had a scary amount of rust. I could peel layers of it with my fingers even without the power tool.

Then, I cleaned fourty years worth of dirt and oil gunk from the engine bay. Minus some surface rust, it looks pretty clean for its age. I had to be a little aggressive with the water though so I'll leave the battery disconnected for a couple of days. The Greek summer sun will take care of the drying.

The bumper has lost its color from the years so I'll go get black spray paint along with some sandpaper to get it sparkling again. I went through the trouble of removing it so it's a good opportunity.

That's hardly all the work it needs but we're getting there...
Do you live in Crete? Or have I just misunderstood?

I'm a consultant, so I charge a consultancy rate to attend meetings, whether I'm required to say anything or not, so I'm more than happy to do them.

I do. I was born and raised in this paradise. But for sometime, I've been in the UK to study. It's summer now though so I'm back here!

I've told you this a few times, but my wife and I absolutely love Crete. We love all of Greece, but Crete is truly special.

Good. Living in the UK sucks. My sister lives in America. I'd rather live there!

Their stores have an entire isle just for Pop Tarts!

Sorry. A little random...😆
