My extended childhood family was loud and extroverted, delighting in boisterous arguments. My children, their spouses, and my husband are articulate but introverted. A quiet life is better for my disposition and psyche.
I agree that the statue is real. But whether it's based on a real person is ... difficult to prove, to say the least. *shrug*
But personally, I don't think it matters if she wasn't a real person. She stands for lots and lots of real Irish fishwives who were strong and resilient and never gave up, and that's more important.
The US has brought in a new citizenship test. The Washington Post set up a little quiz for its readers with ten questions from the citizen test.
I got 8 out of 10 correct!
I looked up a couple of other ten-question citizenship tests. Super easy, 10/10 every time. Seems odd that any question on such a test would require someone to remember any date outside of 1776.
