Suggestions and ideas

I grew up all over the US. Haha.
We ain't in the US anymore. We're in Rhode Island! Actually all of your asses are in Providence now, in a manner of speaking. Specifically, Federal Hill. They made a movie about it. Not great, but a big deal at the time. I actually rewatched it a few years ago, which was a trip, because the city has changed so much in 30 years.

I thought there was a dedicated thread for this but I couldn't find it. Apologies if this is the wrong space for it.

Would adding some sort of personal journal function to the profile page be desirable or even possible? I ask because I often find myself composing pieces using the personal message system and then sending it to myself so I have a kind of record of things. I'm sure everyone else is smart enough to use a dedicated text editor but I'm weird. Thought it was worth checking.

On second inspection this is clearly an improper area for this question and I don't know how to delete it. Apologies!

No prob. I moved it to the generic Suggestions and Ideas thread.

There isn't any personal journal function. There's the Progress Journals we've always had, but those are public, and I'm guessing not what you're looking for?

If possible, I think an accountability forum or thread might be good (I couldn't find one with a quick search, but if there is an existing space for this, please let me know 🫣). Somewhere we can share our goals and update them etc. if we want to hold ourselves accountable.

Or the Writing Feats thread in "Writing Discussions"

tThat’d be what the progress journals are for

Currently found in the community area.

Thank you - I was thinking more of a more public place than private as self-accountability is something I struggle with when its done privately.

Thank you - I had a look and this isn't quite what I was looking for either. I was thinking more of a space to say 'today/this week/this month' my goal is to ______ and then at the end of the goal timeline provide an update for accountability. A place to cheer and support each other when we need an extra push/pair of eyes to feel motivated as I know I'm not the only writer who needs that 😅

No problem if this isn't something wanted here, though, I can find accountability channels elsewhere if I need to and use this site for everything else 🙂

The progrsss journals are public in the sense of being open to members and could absolutely be used as you describe

However if you want an accountability thread in which more than one person can make these commitments feel free to start one

Apologies if this hasn't been mentioned before. The thread has gotten a bit too large to make reviewing it a feasible endeavour.

This is regarding the "Trending" threads thingy on the right side of the main page. Is this the same as the "Recent" posts from the old site, or is the criteria different? I liked that feature, where you can jump in on an active discussion.

Click the blue button right above that. It says "New Posts."

According to the back end, the "Trending" is calculated from metrics in the Activity Log. And it emphasizes what is "hot" rather than what is "recent." And it uses a 7 day rolling lookback. So that's interesting, I guess.

Suggestion? Question? The "praying hands" reaction (which I've also heard interpreted as a high five) lists itself in the alerts as "Gracias."

Huh? I think that gesture is "Thank you" in SE Asia, it's an apology in Japan, but "gracias" in the Spanish world? I would use it to indicate sympathy ("prayers" even though I'm not the praying kind), but now I feel weird.
