What made me unhappy today ?

Got my first complaint from the public.

It sucks.

But neither me nor my staff did anything wrong. Whch makes me unhappy, because we did everything right but still.

And in the same complaint, the accusation was made that we were racist.

Note: I'm only using the male pronoun here because repeating "he/she/they" is tiresome. I've no idea if this person was male, and it doesn't matter.

JT, I really, really doubt that either you or your staff would do anything truly racist. So if another POC accuses you of racism, clearly he doesn't know what racism means. :( I'm sorry you had to put up with that, but don't give up, and don't let him get you down. 🫂

Some people are just egoistic assholes. They do not have the neurological capability to comprehend that they are in the wrong, so just ignore 'em!

Exactly. To slightly paraphrase The Dark Knight: "Some people just want to see the world burn."

I've worked with the public for nigh on 25 years. I've been accused of everything from being un-Australian (because I was working instead of watching sport) all the way to stalking (because I was calling a client to remind her that her bill was due ... so she immediately lost it and assumed I must be stalking her). 🙄 One customer accused me of spamming him because I emailed him his overdue invoices ... that he asked for ... and then repeatedly called me a "corporate peon" and other, less printable things.

On the plus side, I got a few compliments too. One elderly and confused-sounding gentleman sent a complimentary email (and cc'd my boss) because I took the extra time to help him understand his bill. After helping one or two clients, they not only thanked me, but added that I made their day. :)

So don't let the bastards grind you down. They just want a reaction, so they can start arguing. Just ignore the BS (Blustering Scum-sucker ;)), give them a big smile (fake or not), and say "And how else may I help you today?" ;-P
