Word Counts and Updates

Edited because I got a late burst of inspiration: 45,214. 2,608 for the day. 4786 to go.

Happy as I am to have such a good start to Book III, I'm ready to be done with NWT. This level of consistent output for weeks on end is not my normal way of writing. It's beginning to make me a little loopy.

661 words today. Another slow start but now I'm up to 21447 of 25000 words. Now I can't wait to reach the finish line.

I'm also reaching my limit. I've also had a short story idea bouncing around my head for the past few days, so I've been adding a sentence here and there. Looking forward to turning my thoughts to that for some lighter writing afterwards.

It's been a few days since I've posted anything here, but I haven't been slacking. I've banged out 4,248 words, which puts me at a total of 23,857/30,000. Just shy of 80% complete.

For the first 2'ish weeks, the story was flowing and I just needed to write it down. Now it's starting to get complicated, so I stopped the main story and wrote some back story on new characters. Today's writing was working on an outline for the rest of the book. Now that I've got a the bones of the story nailed down, I can work on fleshing things out.

Confession time.

Remember a few weeks ago when I said I'd get caught up? That didn't happen. Not even remotely.

I've only just crossed the 25k line, which leaves me six days to get in the last 25 to reach 50. It's doable in theory, but in practice... I have much hope and many doubts.

Seeing everyone else's progress is really motivating! Keep at it! We're almost done!

Edited the short yesterday, for +100 words to push it hard up to the 2k word limit. (Would be more with cuts and adds, but too hard to count.)

Today was a very productive day on the novel for me, adding 1300 words. One more scene in that chapter (I skipped the opening, because I couldn't work out how to do the scene transition.)

That leaves me with less than 2400 words to hit my target. Very exciting. I have the next 3 chapters already sketched out ready to go, not that I'll get that much completed this week.

For all the graph-nerds out there...
Cool! I like the percentage bar on the top left. Simple and satisfying. The moving target line is also a nice addition.

I wrote 932 words today. Now at 22379 of 25000 words. Sooo close. 2621 words left.

I was at 47451. I have added 10616 since to put me at 58067. This week i am not that busy, so I am going to try and knock out 12,000 more words to make it an even 70K.
I guess that makes you the first one to "win"! Is it time to make a celebration thread?

Don't think I'm going to reach my goal this month. Dealing with some mental health stuff, got holidays to do, and the Novella I was working on got very confused. Overall I need to plan my characters and setting better. Proud of myself for getting about 7,000 words away from completing the 1st draft of my Novella, but I need a break. It was a very good learning experience though.

I'm still fighting the alluring call of the "take a week off" slump, to be honest. I've hit a point with this book where it's trudging along but I'm more excited to start new projects. Even making the "halfway" point reminded me I still have the same amount again to write. But then, what has it taken to get this far? 2 or 3 months? I could have a finished first draft by Spring, if I just keep pushing. If I can hit 25K before the 30th I think I'll be well enough past halfway to motivate myself to keep going. So fingers crossed for the next couple days.

Couple of quiet ones to report...

Tuesday's Wordcount: 942
Yesterday's Wordcount: 426
Total: 22,322
Left to Goal: 2,678

Great to see a couple people hitting their goals already, especially those big 50K ones! Amazing job everyone :)
