Word Counts and Updates

Space Magic - NWT Wordcount: 1,352/15K
I got more of the story written, which is great. But now I am in a weird place. Because I don't want to RUSH the plot, but the next major plot point happens with the wedding. I also don't know if I should write the bad guys POV, because I don't know if we NEED to see what they are planning. But anyway, I will keep going.

1,181 words today and I wrapped up the chapter I started yesterday. I may take a few days break from this story to work on the November short story contest. The prompt is "Alien Perspective," which sounds like it could make for a fun story.

After 2 days I'm at 2,423/30,000 or 8.1% complete.

Okay, so I decided that since I tend to write sporadically, I am not going to update here regularly. I am going to just update the signature and note the milestones here. Because I don't want to spam this thread. Haha.

You could tally it up at the end of the day?
Im like that, too. I wrote like 500 words today (writing off and on throughout the day). Im going to give myself a few more hours before i update the final word count.
But ive been keeping track of my mini sessions

That could work. But I also write late at night, so it's just never-ending. But I will try to do a tally at the end of the day. So far, I have 2459 Words total. But anyway, I can try the end of the day tally.

I forced myself to leave yesterday's segment alone and moved on to a different event. Got from start to finish with 1862 words. Like yesterday's, it's pretty horrible, sparse to the point of reading like a shopping list. The focus of the whole thing is character rather than action. What I've got down is the thing that happened. What I'll be doing on first revisions is trying to capture some unwary soul and attaching it to the story.

The thought occurs to me, though, that this is where practice, frequency of writing sessions, comes in, where it becomes more automatic to include meat with bones on first draft, to be revised and refined later but still serviceable as a first draft. Similar to yesterday, I think the word count will at least double when edited.

Back to work tomorrow, but still home alone for another few days so no excuses.

5002 words over yesterday and today... an as yet untitled work about people cut off in a small town in Nebraska with dangerous wild animals on the loose
If it's eastern Nebraska and you want some on-the-ground info, I can help you out. I lived for a couple of years in a village of 590-odd souls, 42 miles northwest of Omaha and 50 miles north of Lincoln. One thing to remember is that the Platte River totally lives up to its name: half mile wide and an inch deep. And the Platte runs through Nebraska east to west.

So, airboats. Don't omit airboats. And something about high school football. It's more of a religion there than in western Pennsylvania, and believe me, it's bad enough here.

If the wild beasts are disrupting the Friday night games, you know things have gotten hairy. Literally.
