Word Counts and Updates

Everyone's doing great!

I've only got a little over 1k total right now. Only 200 are from today. My project is a bit out of my comfort zone, so I've been freezing up on the regular. Hopefully it won't take too much longer to find my footing.
You got this. I've been struggling with some short fiction I don't know how to tackle, so I get it.

Well, my first day of writing for November saw a massive false start. I couldn't find the voice for my intended project again, so I spent most of the day workshopping 2 separate concepts, both of which I really like.

I did manage to make myself sit down and write some words this evening though, and managed to break through the chapter transition I was stuck on. The first scene of the next chapter nets me 650 words for the day (just short of my 750w/d target) but I'm feeling pretty good about it. If I can pick up this flow again tomorrow, I might get this chapter done.

I wrote just over 1000 words today to end up with 5389 of 25000.

What I've got now is a very badly written 5000 words full of narrative problems that I'll have to weed out in the next version, but I had to write it all to find those narrative problems, so... yeah. I like to dive deep into the scenes and "discover" while writing, but ending up with 5000 words that I probably won't use is frustrating. I think that I'll try a new method of writing that mixes discovering with outlining where I try to live through the events and make an outline of story in bullet points, then dip into bursts of narrative when the mood strikes -- then once that seems like a coherent scene, I'll expand.

I remembered about 11:30 last night that I'd wanted to write a psychological descent into madness, so I abandoned my previous project, and wrote about 2500 words of the "new" project. Which puts me a few days ahead of myself in terms of word count, but I'll probably be doing some work on it today. If the 15k is achieved, I can always go past it.

My first post. I normally just come to the forum when I am at work. If I come here when I am at home it distracts me alot.
My goal is 25K, so I need to set the pace of 834 words a day.
I did not write at all on Saturday. Needed to do some things with the wife.
Yesterday I went off and completed 6237 words, which is about 24% of my goal. I do not plan to write tonight, but I really want to.
I am an outliner, so I prepped really well this time. I am thinking I should have upped the goal a little, but for now, I feel good for what I still need to get done.

End of Day Word Count:
Space Magic: 887 - I went with the 'worse thing that can happen' because I needed to move the plot forward.
Greek Myth Story: 0 - I am not sure how to go forward with this one. Because Zeus seems too nice....(Spoiler, he's not supposed to be. He's the antagonist.)

4395 all in. Difficult to separate the days as I'm jumping around, editing, moving shit, popping narrative zits, etc. Did most of my writing today while I was cooking dinner. Fortunately, the scampi has a slow reduction time and I can flip shrimp with my left hand while I type with my left. Not really, but it feels like it sometime.

45615 to go.

Did most of my writing today while I was cooking dinner.

Maybe we need a "Weirdest writing conditions" thread. I wrote a good portion of a fantasy novel while my husband and I were surveying seismic line in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming. I was at the transit scope, he was dragging tape. I wrote while he plowed through the sagebrush and only paused creative writing long enough to write down coordinates. Not optimum conditions, but it was an intersting experience.
