Word Counts and Updates

4395 all in. Difficult to separate the days as I'm jumping around, editing, moving shit, popping narrative zits, etc. Did most of my writing today while I was cooking dinner. Fortunately, the scampi has a slow reduction time and I can flip shrimp with my left hand while I type with my left. Not really, but it feels like it sometime.

45615 to go.
I've heard of two left feet, but never two left hands.

Knowing me, I'd get distracted and the shrimp would go tough.

(But aren't we supposed to avoid editing? Never mind. I do it in the November writing orgy if not doing it means I'll lose a valuable idea or turn of phrase.)

But now I want shrimp scampi. I have the shrimp. Frozen, yeah, but I have some . . .

I hammered out the next scene this evening, I know it's not perfect but it lands the necessary emotional arc and gets us to the next chapter. +500w

I'm a little concerned I may be loosing her voice, wandering a bit from age appropriate language. I struggled a lot with this in the first chapter, finding the balance between poetically deep descriptions and character authenticity. It's hard writing close from a child's POV. Hopefully I can reign it in on edit.

I wrote another 1000 words today to get up to 6451 of 25000 words.

I didn't go quite into writing bullet points but I did decide to just leave out most details and focus only on story, concepts, emotions and a bit of dialogue. You can't call it prose but it will tell a story, and it's actually quite nice not having to figure out all the rest for now. I think this will be the way forward for me.
