Word Counts and Updates

Whoops. Good catch.

All shrimp is frozen. Anything you buy that isn't frozen has been recently thawed. Pro Tip: buy the frozen bags of shrimp in the grocery store. The "fresh" ones at the seafood counter are the same bags that have been dumped for display.
Thanks for the tip! Not to mention the ones that are dumped for display tend to be priced higher.

I wrote just over 2000 words today to get up to 8533 of 25000 words. That's 1/3rd of the way!

I felt some resistance the past days because I was venturing into a part of the story that wasn't well-planned, so I decided to just jump ahead and summarised a first-contact scene in one sentence. After that came the good part, and the words just flew out! Now I'm done telling one character's story and can move onto the second character, who enters about 30 years down the line. Fun fun fun.

Spent the last couple of days assembling the first two segments. First is now just a couple of words shy of 3k and second is 2900 words. I considered moving on, but reconsidered because what I had was so sparse that I was losing sense of who the characters are. Neither segment is finished and more words, and different words, will attach in later revisions, I'm pretty sure, but at least there's some notion of what this is about, in my head if not entirely on the page.

Whether or not I'm on schedule, I'm pleased with progress thus far and expect to have an incomplete completed version by the end of the month.

Today's Wordcount: 558
Total: 6,363
Left to Goal: 18,637

Felt like a chore to write today. Ended up qith something that felt exposition-heavy and very poorly written. Decided I wasn't in the right place for it and closed shop for the day. Some days, brain doesn't brain. Busy doing other things, I guess. Shan't go into detail, but today was a rough one. So many of them are!

Still, always hopeful for tomorrow!

It sure is great reading all about the great progress that everyone is making!! Carry on, and I look forward to hearing more!

The past few days we've been dealing with a family crisis - everyone is okay - but I haven't done any writing at all and I don't think I'll be able to pick up now in this awesome undertaking. But I watch everyone's word count with great interest!

Only 980 words on Talents today, bringing me up to 6,606. Too busy sleeping in (it's cold, these mornings!), doing yard work, and working my evening job.

Excuses, excuses.

The virtue of writing marathons like this is proving to yourself you can get words down, despite how busy life is. Tonight at work I picked up the schedule for the rest of the month, and it's about to get a lot busier.
