Word Counts and Updates

Didn't do much today. Only added 119 words, for a total of 13,019.

Instead I've been entering my scenes into the trial version of Aeon Timeline. I'm not sure it's going to work to help me keep my scenes straight. It takes a lot of time entering the info, and it's hard to see everything on my dinky laptop screen.

And I'm still not sure what my next scene should be.

Had to go out of town for work for a couple days. Managed to put down a 400w scene, and sketch a few future scenes/moments I had ideas for that I didn't want to forget, for about another 400w all together. Today I added 680w to almost close another chapter.

That brings me to 5400 and just over a third of my 15k goal. I'm about a day behind target word count, but pretty happy with progress so far.

I also spent some time adjusting and detailing my outline, since I kind of hit a wall after yesterdays scene where I didn't know what came next. And I migrated my chapters to a new software to try and see if I like it. So, been busy, I guess.

Spent the last days planning, setting up my non-military Stargate-inspired action team, which will let me jump into the main part of this story. I wanted an android but also wanted it to be different, so it's a human-made droid with an alien consciousness -- only the alien is driven to collect knowledge for survival and has few emotions, but is curious about them. I was quite happy with my little creation until I realised that, in a roundabout way, all I've done is recreate Data from Star Trek.

Anyway, I'll roll with it for now. I wrote almost 1000 words today, which gets me up to 14019 of 25000. The adventure begins!

I feel like it's getting quieter in here. Are people dropping out, or just posting less often?

For me, I will admit that I have slacked off quiet a bit lately. I was going to write on Monday, but that did not happen. I really have a lot of time to do my writing, I'm just not feeling it right now.

I do not intend to drop out yet, though. I have a reasonable goal of 15 000 words and I still think I can make that.

This November Writing Thing actually kickstarted my writing at the beginning, but it's the marathon that counts. I wrote more than I have in months.

We'll see how it goes.

Nothing today, the 12th. Well, three words, due to editing. Too busy taking care of miscellaneous business surrounding my new/used car.

And then said car poops out on me on the freeway on the way to work. I had to limp it there, then get a tow at the end of the evening.

I've been working on the timeline, though, to see if it gives me any ideas. So far, no.

Continued my action team action. It's fun having more characters so there are four moving parts now, rather than just single narrators. I wrote 650 words to get to 14676 of 25000 words. My writing software says I need 620 words/day to finish, and I'm happy to take it a bit more slowly now.

Update

26062. Isn't that nice and symmetrical?

Very palendromic. (y) Yes, it's a word. Is it a word I just made up? Possibly.

Haven't updated this in a few days. I've only written about 1,200 words so far this week. Not the 3,000+ I should be at. It's not that I don't have anything to write, I know what I want to write, but I haven't figured out the how of it. I have to get inside the head of a very unpleasant person and I'd rather not go there, but this part does some important world building, so it's gotta happen. And sooner is better than later.

The good news is that I'm not officially behind schedule, yet. I'm at 13,168, which is just ahead of my 1,000 wpd goal.

Today's Wordcount: 668
Total: 12.535
Left to Goal: 12,465

Just over the halfway line, and with a scene that neatly finished a chapter I've been struggling with. I think I'll be stopping there for the day.

I'm at a very strange point in the story where I finally know (or think I know) all of the beats that'll get me to the ending I have in mind, but I have to juggle them until they make sense plot-wise. Arcs are set up ready for their act 2 turning points, but knowing how and when each of those will come naturally is a struggle. The story itself could rocket along now, if I wasn't thinking about character development. That's what I'd like to think, anyway.

The truth is I have no idea what I'm doing. But I'm doing it!
