I'll probably opt for a weekly update rather than daily, which strikes me as a little oppressive to my mindset. I got started today, 2134 words of what I thought would be the opening event but think now it may be placed second. I wrote without poring over it after every line, left things missing but figured I'd plough on. So I have that chapter started and finished but in need of serious bulk. It's very dialogue heavy, which carries the primary information, but seriously lacking in detail and writerly turns of phrase. When properly completed, I expect the finished chapter to be close on twice the length of what I have so far, if not more. Rather than add to it now, I'm going to move on to the next part and aim for a similar level of completion. I've never written anything that feels this raw without obsessively editing, typically ending up sometimes with fewer words than at the start of a writing session and very slow increments. This is a new experience and, all said and done, I have a start on something I've thought a lot about for the last long while. That's something more than nothing.
I just had one session today, then left home to soothe my soul, if one considers rugby a proper religion and Thomond Park its uppermost Cathedral. Munster beat Argentina in a fantastic game, which I enjoyed with 3 bro and 6 year old nephew. Pity Leinster Ireland couldn't repeat the performance of 2016 against the All Blacks in Chicago.
