That puts me just over 30k into this project, by far the most I've ever written on a single story, so I guess NWT has been a success in that sense, but I still want to hit my 30k target. To do that, I need to average ~1,300 words per day for the rest of the month. The words per day isn't an issue, I average right around 1,300/day on the days I write. I just need to make sure I write very day for the next 10 days. Should be easy... say's the guy just found out that God of War is 60% off right now on Steam. Oh, look, the notification that the download is complete just popped up!

25/50k words. It's dawned on me, with work commitments and such, that I'm not going to make it. I'll keep plugging away. Regardless, this book is going to be around 85k anyway, and I'm happy with the level of (semi) polish so far. My next update will be when the challenge ends, and if it's north of 40k I'll be satisfied to raise a glass towards onwards and upwards. Good luck all.

I'm having fun again now that I've cut myself loose of all plans and expectations, and I'm diving into my list of ideas instead. So many new scenarios to play with!

I'm introducing some supporting cast in my story, so I spent the last few days fleshing them out and I wrapped up the last bit of that today. So tomorrow I am back into the meat of the story, no more excuses. Except that now I've got 7 character arc's to keep track of. Well, 8 really, but only 3 are main cast. The other's are supporting cast.

I'm aiming for around 100k words for this book and I'm just shy of 32k. The story is coming along pretty well for just making it up as I go.

Still really struggling to get into things. At least I managed to get past the 10K hump, but I don't know if I can crank out another 15K in the final week. Details in progress journal.

I wrote 811 words, and now I'm up to 20010 of 25000 words. What a nice number.

My story has spiralled outwards in scope, gaining narrators like it's nobody's business, but I think I'm starting to see a shape that might actually work beneath all that mess.

A big fat nothing yesterday. But today I put down 1900 words as an entire new short story. It will need a little polishing, but overall I'm happy with how it came together. And look at that, it's tomorrow already, I need to go sleep.

Slump the last few days. Started to crawl out of it yesterday, and made a good effort today (I think).

There's still time! I think 25K was the perfect target for me. It's kept me going, but much more would have been too much pressure. I'll happily try and get past it, but it will be a big relief to pass that number (if it happens). Either way, I've made good progress and my book is at 60K - a good halfway for a first draft!

Same here! I'm really looking forward to reaching it. 25K is a good goal because it's challenging without being exhausting, which is how I found the traditional 50K words to be.

It's amazing how we all seem to hit similar roadblocks, burnouts, crashes... at seemingly similar times. This thread has done a good job of pulling me back out of them so far. It seems to have been just as encouraging for others, too! I do think it would be very interesting to graph everyone's progress and see where those dips fall, if we share similar highs and lows... anyway, that's just the accountant in me wanting to suck the fun out of everything.
