Word Counts and Updates

1169 words today for a total of 13751/15000. I think I can fake it till I make it through the last bit here. The story is kind of wrapping up a bit early, and I'm not sure I agree with that. But this is a first draft. The bones of the frame. Once I get things fully written down, I can always go back and make it better. Or, better than what it currently is.

Almost done, friends! Push, push, push! Final stretch! Motivating things!

This morning I did my tally for the week. 9097 giving me a total of 67164. I think I am done, my eyes and brain are hurting. I think I am going to take the rest of the weekend off and start cleaning things up on Monday. It's been a hell of a ride and I want to thank everyone who decided to do the challenge this year. It was a great spark that I needed.
I wish everyone luck on reaching your goals this weekend.

...giving me a total of 67164.
🥇That is utterly astonishing, Raven! Hats off and an enthusiastic round of applause for that kind of sustained effort. 🥇

Amazing the difference three days of vacation from intense writing made to my poor brain and eyes. I keep hoping the local print shop will run their tens cents a page printing special so I can have a hard copy to mangle so I can physically arrange entries in some semblance of order in preparation for the expansion and revision stage. So far, no special has been announced. I'll call Monday and see if they plan one in the near future. If not, it may be about as cheap to use my own printer.

Today's Wordcount: 1,572
Total: 25,658
Left to Goal: 0!!!

I gosh-dang did it! Very very happy with that. Rounded off a chapter which has been unnecessarily meandering but hey, it's done. It can be edited. It all can. We're pushing till we make it to the end, and we'll worry about everything else afterwards!

Amazing job, everyone. It's been great joining you all on this one, given me a real push that I desperately needed, and kept me going through maybe two or three big slumps that normally would have lasted a week or more. Thank you! And congratulations to everybody, goal met or not, for just writing and having a good time!

Last call for alcohol....

I think I'll lock the thread tomorrow when I wake up. Give everyone on the West Coast, Hawaii, or Guam (is that on the wrong side of the date line?) a chance for the full day.

Aaannndddd DONE!

Banged out 1,775 words today which finished one chapter and knocked out another. All told, I put down 30,996 words across 20'ish chapters and 5 short stories this NWT. That's 2 or 3 times my previous best for a month's worth of writing. My story has taken a few twists and turns that I really didn't anticipate and I'm looking forward to exploring it more next month.

Congrats to everyone who participated, and especially to those to who hit their goals. 🍻

I came to the end of what I wrote tonight to discover it was exactly midnight.

What I have for the month is 13,228 words, making this the longest thing I've ever written. I didn't make the minimum 15k standard, but have put down words on a tale that's played on my mind a while and figure I've got something to work off from here. The story's not in it yet, which will inflate the wordcount when I start re-writing. That's something I've never done before either, usually editing as I go and never really completing a first draft as such.

Some time ago, I thought I'd end up with a skeleton in need of a bit of flesh. That metaphor doesn't work for me anymore. What I have is a wardrobe with a bunch of hangers. I also realise that filling my wardrobes with the range of dark winter coats currently at my disposal isn't enough, so I'm on the market for a couple of hawaiian shirts and maybe a frilly frock or two. I have a couple of ideas where I might find them. When I'm done, I will probably canvass for a couple of readers for feedback.

Well done to everyone who participated in this writing thing, whether it's ended where was originally intended or no.
